redcare auto-txt security system

I'm not sure what to make of this...redcare has introduced a car security solution using Bluetooth technology. When the car is unlocked it prompts you on your Bluetooth device for a PIN code, which when entered allows you to start the engine.

An interesting idea, as long is there is a way to override it, which of course defeats the purpose of the security. i could think of a lot of occaisions when i might not have a functional Bluetooth phone - the battery on most phones doesn't last as long as your typical RF key fab. And typing in a PIN is a little more cumbersome than pushing a button. I guess it would depend where I was driving my car every day.

We'll have to see if any of the manufacturers OEM this idea into future versions of their systems.
